Start-rite has over two hundred years of expertise in the manufacture of children’s shoes, dating back to 1792 in Norwich. It was the first footwear manufacturer to make a practical contribution to the prevention of damage to young feet. In 1927, the company commissioned an investigation into schoolchildren’s feet to confirm their belief that children should be catered for differently to adults. Through their long time research, Start-rite understands the importance of fit for young children’s feet.
The company is a supplier of footwear to the children of the Windsor Royal Family. It was granted the Royal Warrant by Queen Elizabeth in 1955 and a second Royal warrant by the Prince of Wales from 1989 until 2003.
